(Posted on 04/03/19)
The 2019 EFIA Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 26th February at JM Heaford, Altrincham Cheshire.
A report from the Chairman, Neil Jones, thanked the Association’s partners and members for their continued support in 2018, as well as the Board who generously gave their time and support to the Association.
Mr. Jones confirmed that membership of the Association had increased both in number of partners and members in 2018 and that the number of entries to the 2019 Print Awards was pleasing with record number of tickets being sold.
The EFIA golf day had been a resounding success in June 2018. The Chairman thanked Keith Hullah of SmurfitKappa Inspirepac for his management of the event. He confirmed that the 2019 event will be held on June 27that Nottingham Golf and Country Club.
EFIA held its first breakfast panel meeting in 2018 on the popular topic of sustainability. He thanked Steve Mulcahy of Contact Originators and Debbie Waldron Hoines for their organisation of the event. The event was very well attended and further events will be held in 2019, currently in planning. In addition, a white paper was produced on the output from the debate and is available for download in the members’ area of the website.
The EFIA monthly e-newsletter continues to be a great way to promote EFIA’s news and events and also to promote our partners – thanks went to Jo Stephenson of PHD Marketing and Debbie Waldron Hoines. The Chairman also thanked Sally Anne Heaford who works tirelessly to keep the EFIA accounts in check. He was also pleased to report that the Association is financially stable for a non-profit making organisation and that monies were available for various projects supporting the membership in 2019.
The MD report from Debbie Waldron-Hoines included news on training which is still a very important topic at EFIA. The content of the EFIA Academy online training solutions has been updated and further modules will be added in due course. In addition, new hands-on training courses are popular and well received – answering the needs of members for practical training, this both consolidates and supports the on-line offering.
The new PMO apprenticeship available from EFIA, in partnership with SkillCert, gives companies another option to use EFIA Academy modules and provides employers with the ability to draw down on the government Apprenticeship Levy.
EFIA continues to be an important member of FTA Europe. Debbie sits on the board of FTA on behalf of our members.
The next Diamond awards will take place on the 18th June 2020 during DRUPA and again all gold winners from EFIA for 2019 and 2020 will go through to this prestigious European competition. FTA has also launched the first edition of the Toolbox and preferential rates will be offered to EFIA members. Details to be announced shortly.
Debbie also sits on the GPMA (Graphics, Print & Media Alliance) to work with other print related associations as one voice for government and policies.
The Chairman concluded that the UK Flexographic Print Industry is one of the most innovative and was sure it will rise to any forthcoming challenges that the next year may bring.
