(Posted on 28/04/15)
Members and partners of the European Flexographic Industry Association attended a new EFIA Packaging Innovations Seminar on April 23rd, kindly hosted by EFIA Diamond Partner, Kodak in Watford, Herts.
Opening the event Andrew Revel of The Retail Institute outlined the social and economic changes happening globally that are affecting consumers, which set the scene for the day - what are the key trends in packaging for the future. Including speakers from PHD Marketing, Brand Sense Academy, Iceland, Blippar, The Packhub and Kodak, the day was filled with insights and exploration into packaging design and development.
EFIA Member and attendee, Alan Coker of Creation Reprographics, said: “I really didn’t know what to expect today but I’ve been really pleased at the standard of the presentations and its been a really insightful day from consumer, retail and brand information through to packaging and print trends. Well worth it!”
Another member Richard Turnbull of Parkside commented: ”It’s been a really enlightening day. It was good to know Parkside is already working on projects that meet some of the packaging needs outlined today. Some of the consumer statistics and new technologies we discussed will really assist our innovation programme. I would definitely recommend members to attend the next seminar.”
Andy Young, EFIA Chairman, stated “Today really reflected the 2015 strategy for EFIA. We’re truly moving the association to provide thought leadership to the flexo industry as well as the usual support services that we provide. The speakers today provided numerous insights that will be really beneficial to our flexo printer members being able to talk with confidence to brands and retailers about driving their packaging designs forward. Some of the presentations were fascinating – technologies like Blippar® add a whole new dimension to connecting the value of packaging to consumers and really understanding demographic change and its impact on labelling, ease of pack opening and so forth was really eye opening.”
