NEW LEAN & GREEN SUSTAINABLE PRINTING PLANTS REPORT AVAILABLE
(Posted on 05/10/15)
‘Lean & Green Sustainable Printing Plants' is the topic of a new report published by IDEP France & International Centre for Manufacture by Printing (icmPrint) with contributions from Prof. Tim Claypole, of University of Swansea.
Targeting renovated, extended and new building projects, the study was completed with a number of parties around the world looking at printers' buildings and associated operating costs and environmental impacts.
The report has noted that the energy consumed in buildings is about 25-40% of final energy consumption, plus the related carbon footprint and that some printers have re-invented their working environment to improve their over-all economic and environmental efficiency — a ‘lean and green’ strategy.
"It must be recognised that the printing industry is part of an ecosystem in which climate change, pollution, extreme weather events and resource availability are issues that affect every part of the globe. For these reasons, IDEP and icmPrint have collaborated to publish this guide to ‘Lean & Green Sustainable Printing Plants’. The guide seeks to give an overview and understanding of the main issues, and provides sources of information for those interested in the subject."
