March 12th 2015, Swansea University, Swansea, SA2 8PP
WCPC has been working with partners across Europe on the EU Life + Ecoflexobag project aimed at the development and demonstration of best practises in design and production of commercial bags. The workshop will introduce the project and present emergent and best practise techniques for production by flexographic printing.
The Ecoflexobag project is a European Union Life + funded project aimed at reducing the environmental impact of carrier bags. This includes a lifecycle approach to design and the reduction of solvent use during manufacture leading to the production of a free online tool for designers and printers to ensure they are using the most up to date techniques. This workshop focusses on best practises for printing using the flexographic process and would be applicable to all flexo printers. Topics covered include European guidelines for solvent emissions applicable to printers, techniques for solvent reduction, particularly the use of water-based inks and printing best practise. The workshop concludes with an introduction to the on-line tool that provides a step by step guide for best practise implementation that is tailored for your company’s needs.
This free event will be held in the Zienkiewicz lecture theatre at Swansea University’s Engineering department on Thursday 12th March 2015.
